First appointment Ultrasound?

Question

So I am pregnant with my second child and the OB scheduled an ultrasound at our first appointment. I have the same doctor this time around.. We didn't have an ultrasound during our last pregnancy until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks... anyone know a reason why this would be?

I had one around 10 weeks was supposed to be around 8 but I had some things planned I couldn’t move around. Next one I’ll be about 19 weeks. First one was just to see baby and of course measure to make sure my due date was accurate and I was measuring right.

Usually just to get an estimated due date I had early ultrasounds with all 3 of my pregnancy’s

Until 20 weeks!? Holy cow I would be a wreck if I had to wait that long. I had a scan at five weeks to confirm it wasn’t ectopic. Then a scan at 7 weeks to make sure it’s viable. I think more information the better
