Midwife care in NZ?

Just wondered if anyone here is from New Zealand..
I am new to living in this country and recently found out I’m expecting! Have heard things are different birth/pregnancy care wise. All my other babies were born at home in Australia. Any insight in where I go next would be appreciated don’t want to tell all the family yet 😊

Go to your GP first to get the pregnancy confirmed (at least that’s why I did). They should be able to answer a lot of your questions and give you some info. 
The main thing you’ll need to do is find yourself a midwife. You can go to https://www.findyourmidwife.co.nz/ to do this - just get in touch with one who’s in your area, available at the right time, and looks good to you. I think if you have trouble finding one they can also allocate you one through your local hospital, but that’s only something I heard second hand. You’ll probably start seeing them at around 12 weeks. They can arrange your 12/13 week scan and associated blood work. The GP might do blood tests too if you go to them first.
