Athletic Build - Pregnancy Weight Gain

I have never owned a scale.

When the doctor weighs me, that’s when I get a reading. Other than that I don’t really want to know.

I’m in my late 20s, active - 45 mins of exercise 5-6 days a week (3-4 high intensity work outs).

It’s still early in my pregnancy (5weeks) and everything looks good/normal so far. (1st time IUI baby!) I plan to continue to work out regularly, we eat healthy for the most part.

Should I buy a scale? I’m not concerned with gaining “too much” weight as I am with not gaining the ~right~ amount of weight.

Am I being crazy even thinking about this? I’ve just never liked having to live by a number on a scale but if it’s whats right for our baby I’ll do anything!

Don't bother. There's really not a good "standard" weight to gain since pregnancy is so different from person to person. More important to watch what you're eating than how much you're gaining.

I don’t weigh myself. I just can tell if I gain weight by my clothes haha

I didn’t have a scale with my first. Wasn’t a big deal.

I wouldn’t bother. You’ll be weighed at your appts (mine happen monthly). People gain and lose weight differently during pregnancy. As long as your not doing a crash diet or binge eating, you’ll be fine.

There's really not a right amount to gain. With my son I lost nearly 10 lbs in my first trimester and face birth at only about 4 lbs over my prepregnancy weight. With my daughter I didn't lose weight, but only gained about 6 lbs, nothing during the 2nd trimester. Both were healthy. If your doctor is concerned they'll tell you
