Should we do a registry?

So this is our second baby and second boy, I saved a lot of clothes from our first and they will only be a little over 2 years apart. I don’t plan on having a shower or sprinkle but have seen that it’s much easier to keep track of what you need if you make a registry and that way if people ask what you need you can direct them to it. I brought it up to my husband and he thought I was crazy but when I started listing off some of the stuff we can’t reuse he just said he didn’t know. I don’t want to be tacky but I’d rather be prepared and that way if people choose to get us gifts we can get things we need. What do you all think? Is it tacky? Is it being prepared?

I would make one but wouldn’t share it unless someone asks. That’s what I am doing, I’m doing it simply because you can get a discount at Target and Amazon for the things that are left to buy on your registry. So it’s an automatic money saver on things that I need to get!

This is our second boy but they are going to be almost 9 years apart. We are doing a shower but we’re going to keep it non traditional, co-ed, kid friendly, and do a chilli cook off and a pie baking contest... with s’mores and an outdoor movie or something cool for everyone so that it’s not like a boring thing. It will be more like a party than a traditional baby shower.

Every kid will need something so while you may not need near as much as your first you will still need things. Even if no one else sees it, the registry will help you keep track of everything you need to get so absolutely make one!

I made one mainly for registry discount offers but I know people will ask bc we’re having a diff sex. I think it’s fine to direct people if they ask

I am doing a sprinkle. I created a registry because we sold a lot of our stuff due to us renovating our house and didn’t want saw dust etc on baby things. Our boys will be 4 years apart. I do have a lot of his clothes but things like bassinet, swing, infant car seat etc we need. I have been purchasing many of the higher end ticket items myself but any help would be helpful and appreciated. So we will do a fun sprinkle to celebrate our little one.

As long as you weren't expecting gifts, I think it'd be okay? It's mostly for your reference anyway, if someone insists on getting you something too then I don't think it's tacky to refer them to your list at all.
I have the same gap and now I'm wondering what we're missing because I feel like we barely need anything 🙈

I would. Like you said it’s a good way to keep track but on top of that a lot of them offer a discount about 8 weeks out from your due date so you can use that to your advantage even if you don’t have a shower or give out the registry.

Second baby, not finding out gender until birth. I have enough unisex sleepers for the first little bit as we buy/get clothes so not worried about that (didn't find out with our first either and needed to have clothes to wear regardless). I DO have a registry started for the few new things I want/need - for instance,  I know I am likely looking at a repeat c-section but never had a bassinet with the first (just a mini crib) and it was terrible for my recovery from the first c-section. Also, Baby 2 is due December but Baby 1 was a July baby - I know we need some winter things that I don't have in that small of a size. I haven't widely shared it, but I have it if/when somebody asks and if for no other reason that it's an easy way for me to keep my list and also get a discount on the things I intend to buy.
