COVID POSITIVITY THREAD
Before I begin, let me first start by saying I KNOW Covid-19 is miserable, scary, life-changing, strange, different and uncomfortable. It’s complicated and many people have suffered because of it. I myself have found my anxiety tripling, and that’s just one way it has affected me personally.
That being said, it’s here. We’re living in a pandemic time, we cannot change it overnight, so lets make a POSITIVITY thread. In what (maybe ironic or unexpected) POSITIVE ways has Covid-19 impacted your life?
I’ll start for an example:
• For like two months, I got to spend a lot more time with my husband (he normally works basically 24/7 otherwise)
• I’m naturally a homebody and introverted anyway, so it’s been nice to have less obligations to ‘go out’
• I had a baby in April, and I REALLY didn’t want to have loads of people right in the hospital with me after birth, visiting me at my house immediately afterward, and just generally being a pain because there’s a “new baby” and people tend to think that’s a free pass to invade on any and all privacy you’d otherwise have ....the pandemic and hospital restrictions gave me privacy to heal and bond with my baby, and not feel spread thin trying to “host” company. I will forever be grateful for that.
• I have terrible social anxiety, and this ‘pause’ on life, so to speak, is allowing me the golden opportunity to really focus on myself and my therapy, without pressure from external things or obligations
• The social anxiety causes me to blush frequently, the whole mask-wearing requirements REALLY help with that
• I’ve discovered, and fallen head-over-heels in love with the convenience of grocery pick-up
• If I do have to make the odd run into an actual store, or other public place, and if I look like crap (which I do- I have a new baby) the mask also helps (it hides half your face after all!!) heck, its basically socially acceptable now to wear an entire bag over your head if you really wanted to now! #winning
• After the initial slowdown of work for my husband, it’s actually picked up again, and even doubled at this point
• I’ve learned a lot more about political leaders while following news and updates
• We’ve all been eating a bit better because we’ve been at home vs going out all the time now
• I’ve finally succeeded in getting my husband and son to take multi vitamins and wash their hands more often !! 😷😷
These are the main things I can think of off the top of my head right now. Please share your own Covid-POSITIVITY, goodness knows we all could use a little more of that these days!
