Fears as I edge closer to delivery

I'm so scared of needing a c section for some reason or other. I see so many stories on here that end that way, it blows my mind. Seems like people are getting them more and more and I wonder when they are necessary and when they aren't. And how you can tell. If the doctor says you need one then there's no argueing with that but it just seems like some of them should be able to be avoided? I don't know. Just scared.
