ADHD meds for 7 yr old?

I have a friend and she has a 7 year old and she is a out of control little brat. (Love her to death) She back talks all the time, yells at her mother when asked questions, just in general her tone is uncalled for and very bad. She's all over the place, she's never still. Her teacher told her mother that she thinks the child has adhd and recommended taking meds. How do you mothers and lady's feel about adhd meds for children under 10? And if anyone has any experience or advice please comment.
