Second baby delivery-placenta accreta

Mr

Here is my story: Just had my second baby three weeks ago! I was considered high risk the entire pregnancy due to a history of hypertension. I ended up delivering my baby at 35 weeks. On my delivery day, not only did they discover I had super imposed preclampsia, while they were doing my c section, they discovered that I had placenta accreta. For those who are not sure what that is, let me drop some knowledge, its very severe, yall! It can cause maternal death (7% maternal death rate) and hemorrhage (90% have hemorrhaging). This is when the placenta attaches to your uterine wall during pregnancy, causes vary (i.e., anything that can cause scarring to your uterus can lead to this- history of myomectomy, previous c-section). I was strongly advised during my c-section, to get a hysterectomy or not get pregnant again. They had to leave part of the placenta, so that I didn't hemorrhage. I was told that the placenta could remove itself on its own and to wait....

My concerns: no ultrasound detected this! This is life threatening, and even the high risk doctors had no idea. Second, what does it mean to just wait? Believe me, I've asked and somehow the placenta is supposed to just detach itself, and come out in your cycle....how long does that take? Noone knows! Thirdly, I'm too young for a hysterectomy! I just started having children, but I can't risk anything because I want to be around for them both!

In the end, i just have to count my blessings!

Has anyone heard of placenta accreta? If so, what was your experience?
