Today I let my guard down and went on a play date for the first time since Covid...and im pregnant
Just wanted to share. I am 29 weeks pregnant and today for the first time since Covid, I took my 2 year old on a playdate at my friends house for 3 hours. I literally haven’t done ANYTHING (not even the grocery store) since February due to fear of Covid. But for some reason today I took the plunge. We went to my friends house and let our kid’s play together. They didn’t wash their hands, they shared tons of toys, they at loads of snacks together, and they just got to be carefree kids again. My friend and I sat on her couch and just talked and we even had lunch together again (and not once did I think about Covid or sanitizing my damn hands) and you know what? It was fricken amazing! It felt so nice to just let my guard down after 6 months of feeling trapped, lonely and terrified of being social due to pregnancy and Covid. In those 3 hours, I felt normal again. I forgot about all the hype about Covid and just lived my life for a while and it was absolutely perfect. I have no regrets what so ever, and surprisingly, I left feeling comfortable instead of in a state of panic/anxiety. So to any mommas struggling with loneliness/depression from being so isolated at home, it’s okay to take the plunge! Let your guard down, even if it’s just once. I promise your mental state will thank you.
