Stairs??

Question

When did you start teaching your littles to do stairs?? My guy is 10 months and refusing to crawl but I’d wanting to walk. He’s pulled himself up at things and walked around them on his own, I’m wondering if we start doing stairs if that will help him with walking and maybe figuring out crawling as well?  Or if I should just leave him figuring it out on his own?

My husband taught our son when he started to crawl. It was the best decision we could have made. He is 16 months now and has been a champ at stairs since 12 months (about a month after he started walking). He can go up and down stairs, with us close of course, perfectly. So start now.

I tried teaching my son and he just started sliding on his belly down the stairs around 10 months🤣.. eventually he taught himself how to walk down the stairs.

We taught our kids as soon as they could crawl or stand and taught them to go down backwards (feet first).

My daughter was able to climb our stairs before she could ever crawl lol we just allowed her to figure things out on her own and didn’t force anything. She didn’t start walking until 14 months and was basically running a few days later lol he will figure out the walking, just don’t rush it and let him learn on his own, worked great for us!

My daughter just started doing it by herself. At around maybe 9 months or so. I didn’t put in any effort to teacher (not that I remember at least 🤔).

Some kids just don’t crawl. My girls never crawled . My son did for a short time but even then he avoid stairs by his choice till he could stand/walk . Now at a year he would hold his hand out for assistance to walk down stairs. They progress and start to explore as they are ready. Pushing it can lead to accidents

Teach him how to crawl down backwards.
