Sleeping tips...
Hey all,
Before anyone tells me how wrong I’m doing everything (which I’ve had a few people imply) i only want helpful suggestions- no one being like baby MUST sleep every 1.5hrs or anything like that because every baby is different.
my 12 week old normally sleeps the following pattern:
- Sleeps 11/11:30pm through till 4/5am has a quick feed and nappy change.
- Sleeps 4/5am through till 9am wants a cuddle and then goes back down till 10:30/11am.
- awake till 12:30/1pm ish
- sleeps 1-2hrs
- awake till 5ish
- sleeps 2-3hrs
- awake till 10:30-11pm.
Sometimes she has a couple of very short cat naps in between too. So all up she sleeps 16-17hrs a day.
Now my question is sometimes at night she gets herself over tired- but it doesn’t seem to matter when i start trying to get her sleep. She could wake up at 7 and I start her bedtime feed and routine at 8:30 and she’ll do the same thing. She just sits there awake while i try to get her to sleep. Most of the time shes not crying or anything she’s just super alert and holding her head up and not relaxing. Even in a pitch black room she’s still holding her head up and staring around. Then she gets herself over tired and does get upset.
Im wondering if anyone has any tricks to make the baby relax that bit quicker before she gets herself over tired.
Ive tried/do
- dark room
- white noise
- shushing
- rocking
- puting her in her cot/bassinet to soothe herself
- feeding her to sleep
