Is JR. A bad name?

If you have a great man who you are 100% certain will be a wonderful father, would you let his son named be a "Jr"? I personally feel that good men deserve to name his son. Its traditional, it's dignifying, it's meaningful.

Idk my.bf and are javibg issues withthis now. I.dont care for.the name Eric it's widely overused amd he's not the most popular guy... I'm.scared ny son will.meet a girl later on down the road and her mom will have been.fucked over by my Bf. Plus i dislike when.children are called Junior or.Junie...

I think if that's what's important to him and you as a family, it's your decision. My husband didn't want his child to be named for him (it's a girl anyway so moot point right now). That's up to you as a family!

Im iffy on this. My first husband and father of my first is the biggest effing disgrace ever,  horrible father and person in general, he is currently in jail right now so I'm super glad i did not make him a jr. My husband now HATES my ex (for good reason ) so constantly saying my ex husbands name reference to my son would be horrible. My husband now is such a wonderful man that i would consider doing a Jr. He's actually a Jr of his dad so our child would be a senior? Idk how that all works lol. My husbands name is arturo and that's not something you hear every day. Well,  in mexico i guess it's common but in the US not so much.

Ughh my husband has the same name as his uncle just different middle names it's so bad our mail gets sent to him and they send us his uncles crap in the mail I don't know how many times I had to go up to our post office and tell the lady to look at the address first.. It will make things difficult later on with that stuff but it's up to u I'm giving our son my husbands first name as his middle (atlas James) so he's still named after him

I say go for it...its your baby. If it'll make you guys happy why not. Were having a boy too and were thinking about a Jr as well but, my boy friends name is like wild fire throughout his family. So we are looking at similar names instead.

My oldest son, which is his dad first born is a jr. We don't call him jr we call him by his name or his nickname which is aj.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I totally get tradition. Maybe call him by his middle name if he's a "junior". Or, do like we did and use daddy's name for his middle name.

I hate naming a kid after the dad because I feel like the kid is pretty much known as Junior rather than by his name.
