Stimulus child support take away?!😱😱

I was one of millions who have a court agreement with my ex husband to pay child support. He also owes over $2k thus far.

I was alerted by his parents; he is MIA, that documentation from our DOR took his stimulus check on 8/14 and it was confirmed with the IRS that it was in review for disbursement.

I received his stimulus / “back owed child support” this morning and already spent some to order my daughter more wipes and pull-ups that she needed since I don’t have the funds after paying bills and not getting paid for 2 weeks.

Here’s where I’m now nervous.

My coworker came over and said that the govt is taking back ALL “back owed child support” stimulus checks and returning them to the parent responsible for the child support.

Has anyone heard of this or is he incorrect?

He also said if we don’t have it taken away, we’d have to pay it when we file taxes. Where is he getting this information?
