Femara Support (Unexplained infertility/adenomyosis)

Hi ladies! Looking for some advice/your experience with Femara, especially if it’s similar to my circumstances. Sorry if this is long!

A few years ago, I was struggling to get pregnant. I also had a couple chemical pregnancies (faint positives that disappeared) and then an early miscarriage (just after missed period). After my early miscarriage and because I was having lots of left side ovary pain, my OB sent me to a fertility specialist. They diagnosed me with adenomyosis which explains the pain I was having. But thought my chemical pregnancies/early miscarriage was likely due to a progesterone issue.

I ended up getting pregnant on my own before my fertility specialist had even formulated a plan for me, so she put me on progesterone inserts starting at 12 DPO through the end of the first trimester and I gave birth to a healthy baby girl in spring of 2019.

I reached back out to my fertility specialist last week because we are about to try for our second baby. I wanted to get her thoughts on whether I need progesterone inserts again. We talked about my cycle - how I’m spotting at around 9 DPO, still have lots of pain and very heavy periods, and my history of struggling to get pregnant in the past. She advised that I go on progesterone and apparently thinks I might have an ovulation/luteal phase issue as well so is prescribing me Femara.

I have no experience with Femara or any fertility drug so I’m just very nervous of the unknown. I definitely don’t want to go over a year again trying for a baby and I DEFINITELY don’t want any more chemicals/miscarriages. So if the combination of progesterone and Femara gets me a healthy baby in a reasonable timeline, then I’m all for it. But I feel so strange taking fertility medication when we are only just starting trying for a second time.

Other than my adenomyosis, everything looks as if I should be able to conceive and carry with no problems. But that’s not been the case for me in the past. I’m just wondering what people’s success stories are when they have unexplained infertility. How quickly did you conceive with Femara, what dosage were you on and did you have a singleton/multiples?

Thank you!!
