Diaper rash on penis?

Question

What does diaper rash on a penis/scrotum look like? My son is circumsized and the skin around his head is pretty red and a little swollen and then underneath his shaft on his scrotum it’s red there too. Could this just be diaper rash? I started putting Vaseline on it to see if that helps. Any advice?

Use diaper cream for diaper rashes. The zinc ingredients are used to keep the area dry. Using Vaseline only traps moisture in which can make the diaper rash much worse. When my baby first got circumcised we used too much Vaseline on his bottom and it trapped moisture in but kept his penis from getting dry which allowed the skin to heal from the surgery. Now that he is healed we use the desetin diaper rash cream at night for his long stretches of sleep and the desetin diaper rash prevention cream during the day if We see any redness. Only using Vaseline on the tip of his penis/underneath if dry. 
Basically if the skin is dry use Vaseline, if it wet from a rash use diaper cream.

We had the same thing. Doc said it was diaper rash. She recommended diaper cream layered on “like frosting a cupcake.” Did that and it went away after a day. We used honest brand organic diaper cream. Doc recommended desitin. She also said if it didn’t go away with diaper cream to let them know so they could see if it was a yeast infection
