Early labor?

So I’m 35 weeks pregnant and was at the hospital last night for cramping and lower back pain.  The monitor was picking up contractions every 7 minutes.  I’m only 1 cm dilated but my cervix is short.  This morning I woke up with this really wet think mucus discharge, is this normal or something starting?

Mucus plug. It can mean labor is impending. But most woman will  say they went in labor weeks after they lost their plug. As it regenerates aswell. 
Though if contracting, i noticed i lost most with contractions as contractions was shortening my cervix (mucus plug is the plug innyour cervix blockingninfections ect) so.most likeluly its coming just maybe be early labor and slow..
What did your doctors say? Every 7 mins is still coming quick enough when they say every 5 is when labor is rly there.
