We heard that heartbeat at our 12 weeks scan (through the ultrasound equipment) and at out 13 week check up they said they don't bother with the Doppler that early because it's not always able to pick it up.

It's very common. My first doctors apt was at 9 weeks and she tried and said if she wasn't able to find it, to not freak out because I'm still early. Luckily she was able to find it but she had to push fairly hard. If you have a home Doppler, they aren't as powerful I guess as the ones doctors use hence why a lot of women can't find them early on. I wasn't actually able to find mine until I was close to 13 weeks. Just don't put yourself in a panic. Good luck!! :)
