Could my son be asthmatic?

So I’ve noticed each time he gets a slight cold or cough it’s extremely loud and wheezy. Especially at night. Even when he breathes it’s so wheezy I can hear it from his room all the way into mine. He woke up this morning coughing again with huge wheezing noises. Could he be asthmatic? I’m gonna get him checked out just like to know your opinions..?

Its hard to tell. The commkn cold can make people wheeze due to inflammation  and mucus so most of the time they can give tou albuterol/inhalers to help but doesnt necessarily meanb he is asthmatic but its good to take him to make sure.

That’s exactly how we found out I was asthmatic my entire life! I thought it was completely normal because every time I got a cold, I’d cough and wheeze. Even walking barefoot on cold floor or a slight change to cooler temperatures would bring on a cough attack. I just thought that was normal winter stuff. Until one cold ass February, I finally went to the Dr cause I had a cold and really struggled to breath. I explained to the Dr. that this always happens when I get a cold, I get super congested and it’s a bit hard to breath but that this time it was way too difficult. I went in looking for a decongestant or something, ended up being diagnosed with Asthma at 24 😂

Our son is similar. Small colds cling to his lungs and he wheezes a lot. We’ve brought him to the ER twice when it was really bad (his skin collapsing in around his ribs). He has a nebulizer with albuterol to help. He’s never been diagnosed with asthma, but it wouldn’t surprise me if later he is (he’s 2).
