Help!

I am 3 days late for my period. I am NEVER late. I took pregnancy test, and results were negative. Is there any possible way that I may have become pregnant days after my ovulation cycle? Making me 1-2 weeks pregnant, and in turn, causing pregnancy test to result in negative? I know I sound ignorant, but can you get pregnant while not ovulatin?
