Can teething cause an ear infection?

Hi moms!
My little one has been teething pretty bad! It seems like his 4 molars are coming out ( feels like they’ve been trying to come out for a while )
The last few days maybe 2-3 he’s been constantly tugging at one of his ears, I’m wondering if he’s in pain or is it a possible ear infection?

Not an ear infection but my pediatrician said tugging on the ears when teeth are coming in is normal!

Our son got his 4 molars and an ear infection. He is prone to ear infections and has some fluid in his ear so we have to get him checked out for tubes. So the answer is yes unfortunately. Hope your little one feels better soon!

It's possible. Our ped said the best way to tell is give Ibuprofen if displaying pain signs like pulling or patting ears.
If the Ibuprofen works then it is just teething
If it doesn't it is something else and time to go in. Also running more than a mild (a couple degrees over normal) fever is a symptom.

All the excess saliva caused by teething can pool and drain to the ears, it happened to Perry a couple months ago. It’s possible!
