When to tell? (Quarantine edition)

So I am hoping yall could give me some advice... my husband and I just got our first ever BFP last weekend (9/12). Based on my last period I am around 7 weeks. First ultrasound and appointment is next Monday (9/21). I know most people wait till toward the end of the 1st trimester before they announce. My issues it that I am a high school teacher and we are returning to in person instruction on monday the 28th. I feel like it might be better to go ahead and tell my students so they know how important it is to keep their distance from me! I of course would want to tell our families first before my students! That would mean telling them next week!! Is that to early? I feel like my timeline is all messed up!! Any advise??!!

Thanks everyone for your help!! After going to the doctor they determined I am only about 5 weeks instead of 8 (I have irregular periods). So we will wait on telling people.

There is no right time or wrong time to spread the news it's just whatever you're comfortable with. I announced my first and second babies around 6 weeks and I just announced my third at 9 weeks.

I‘m in a similar position and decided to tell admin after 8 weeks (in about 3weeks) because it’s kind of a middle ground between too early (now) and kinda late considering COVID (usual 12 weeks). Will try to keep distance from students and colleges by myself till then. It isn’t a problem so far. Anyway I won’t tell my students for as long as I don’t show. I can keep them at a distance and maybe when COVID hits hard again I just won’t go to school for a while with doctors approval. If absolutely necessary of course. Personally, I would wait. It’s still super early and you wouldn’t want to let your students down if something happened (God forbid). I would just set strict social distance and hygiene guidelines from the start and be extra cautious.

I told my admin at 6 weeks. I felt it was best so that they knew to not put me into a bad situation.

i told my parents right away so did my partner w his family. i was really worried since i didn’t know what would happen and it’s not usually good to tell people bc you never know what can happen. just a couple more weeks and you’re done w first trimester. you can do whatever you wish to do, whatever makes you comfortable :) you’re not obligated to tell them right away if you didn’t feel like it but if you did you can too. totally up to you!

I totally get where you’re coming from but I didn’t even tell our parents and sister until 13 weeks.   Your students will be super excited for you.  But If it was me I’d wait

I told my immediate family when I found out, and then people I didn’t see every day till 20 weeks hahah
