Should my boss pay me if she goes out of town for a whole week?

I'm a nanny and my boss and her daughter are going out of town for a whole week. I think she assumes I'll be okay without getting paid this week but I'm not. I'm broker than broke and can't afford for her to not pay me.

If she's going out of town should she pay me for the week I could of worked? It's different if I were to go out of town, I wouldn't expect pay.

I'm a nanny. I'm still paid for the full week when my bosses leave for vacation with the kids. Are you under a contract? If so it should all be stated in it. I would definitely bring it to her attention!

I would definitely say she should. If she had her children in a child care center she would be responsible for paying.

If I were her I would. Nannies should be treated as a real employee in, lets say an office enviorment; pay taxes, pay stubbs and etc.

Maybe not a full check but at least half but why pay for something your not using, it be like paying for a car but walking everywhere

It should've been discussed. My last nanny job, the girls I watched went to their grandparents and I got a week of paid vacation and 2 weeks not paid.  The job I work right now, I'm only part time at the moment and only get paid for weeks that I work. 
You can't expect her to pay you of you're not doing your job, if you worked at Walmart and didn't work for a week they wouldn't pay you, it works the same as a nanny.

I don't know about nannies....but I know I've refused to put my daughter in daycare because of that clause. I'm broke too and sure can't afford to pay someone to "watch" my daughter when they are closed for holidays or they don't have her for any reason I choose. On that note, I understand that they are a business and have multiple children at any given time unless closed which is why I refuse. If you're a private nanny and not with an agency I would definitely make a contract with that stipulation if you are worried about it. (Which I'm sure you are since no one likes to not get paid for a week and especially when it's not their choice.) If you are with an agency I would see what their policies state.
