People meeting your newborn and COVID

Carrie

I apologize if this is something that has been addressed before, however I did a lot of scrolling and haven’t found much of anything relating to it.

I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with our first. My family lives in the midwest and my husband’s sister live on the opposite coast, so Traveling/flying to meet the new baby is inevitable and of course everyone is very excited.

As I get closer to my due date, the more nervous I am becoming... especially since I just found out today that 2 of my aunts have covid, (luckily with mild symptoms - low grade fever and headaches). My mom and dad already bought their flights to come and I really want them to be there, but I also don’t want to expose a newborn baby to illness.

It seems like some people take it more seriously than others and we take it more seriously as I work as a nurse practitioner in a hospital and have seen a lot of death and lives tragically altered secondary to this virus.

I did travel once about a month ago to go home and it isn’t specifically flying that makes me nervous (as southwest was taking cleaning precautions, everyone was wearing masks, empty middle seats, I was able to take extra precautions, cabin air is complete exchanged every 2-3 minutes, multiple documented flights with covid positive passengers where everyone was wearing a masks and no transmissions, etc). However, it is the day to day precautions I am worried about...

What is everyone else doing in this situation?
