hi i’m due march 6th with my baby girl salem and 
i was wondering if i would be doing “too much” if i set a age limit on who can hold her my fiancé has a little sister she’s 10 but i really don’t want nobody holding her unless they are 13 or older it just makes me nervous when little kid are holding babies and treat them like baby dolls. and i wouldn’t completely not let them have contact i would just rather his sister not hold her until she can at least sit up on her own

There can be mature enough children that are under 13 yrs. It all depends on the kid tbh. I had multiple children under 13 hold my daughter when she was a newborn. All family of course. I trusted them and sat very close and only let them if I trusted them. Kids aren't stupid to think a real baby is a doll. If they are that immature at that age then you make the call.

At the end of the day, your child your rules. My cousins were all under ten when I had my son. We sat on the couch next to them and laid the hoppy in their lap while they “held” the baby

You can safely help a child hold a newborn, but your kid your rules! My 1 year old held her sister, and that sister will be 1 when baby #3 comes, and they’ll all hold her! Just have to help a little! And make sure they’re sitting down, obviously.

My daughter is 2 and she holds her baby cousins but we never let her pick them up by herself and someone is always sitting with her and supporting baby and she has to always be sitting on the couch but your baby your rules 🤷🏼‍♀️ if it makes you uncomfortable don’t let them hold the baby

It's completely up to you but what I did when my niece wanted to hold my daughter I would make her sit down and then I would place a pillow or boppy in her lap, have her hold out her arms and then place baby in her arms. She wasn't allowed to maneuver or change her position.. if that needed to be done I would step in and do it for her. She was 9 at the time and she thought it was the greatest thing and I felt comfortable that my babe wouldn't get jolted or hurt. As my daughter got to where she could hold herself straight (head and back) then my niece was allowed to reposition her, but that was around 6 months and my niece had turned 10. I also want to point out that she had been around babies throughout her 9-10 years so she understood that she needs to be gentle and support the neck and all that which I think helped my comfort level. She could also sit in the lap of an adult and hold baby that way so that she had the added support of an adult and they can step in immediately if needed.
I would talk to your husband too, y'all know her best and if you think she'll treat baby like a doll then it's not out of line to have her hold off, your child your rules.
