Non melostation order?

Okay so I haven’t been with my ex for about 6 months now and social services have said they are going to discharge me and baby soon however they want me to get a non melostation order on my child’s dad as he lives kind of close to me as he was their main concern when it came to our child. 
Anyway, the reason I have never gone through with these is because 1) I don’t like court rooms family court or not and 2) I don’t feel the need, if he was going to do something to me he would’ve done it by now. 
We speak occasionally on social media however we don’t see each other. 
They said I should get it as he’s came to my property previously so if there’s one in place he can get in trouble straight away and it will stop child services getting involved in future however I don’t really want one?
Do I have to get one or will they still discharge me without one?

If you really want to make sure your baby and yourself are safe you should just get it. I got a no contact order on my son's bio father and I never had to go to court for it so depending on your situation they might not need you to actually go and see him in court. If they are saying it's best to have that I would do it.

If social services are suggesting it you should do it. It keeps you and your child protected, even if you think he won’t try anything else. 
All the court will ask you to do is have your own terms (e.g. no coming to the property, no harassment etc) that you both must agree to, which if he breaks (or you if he puts an order on you) he will be in breach of court and therefore risks more serious punishment. However you need to keep in mind that if you both fail to agree on the terns the court has the right to impose terms they feel are suitable that may not necessarily be favourable to you. 
Basically though it’s something you should do. There’s nothing to say that he won’t kick off again in the future.
