How bad is non medicated birth?

I really want to try it without epidural this time giving birth but am afraid I may regret it.

It really wasn’t bad. I did get an epidural because they told me I would need it. It failed though so I felt everything. It was just this build up of pressure and cramping(contractions). It was like I had to poop but it just kept building all day. And you use the same muscles to push like you are straining to poop. And once baby was out there was so much relief. I felt amazing and was like let’s do it again lol

I practiced hypnobirthing. So I was prepared to change my brain to focus through the pain. It’s different for everyone. I got to the hospital and was already 7cm. I also was open to knowing that if I felt I couldn’t do it that the epidural was there. I did not get it. Pushing was actually a relief. I would do it again and I honestly for getting what it felt like....I forgot the instant she was in my arms.
Not sure where you are from but gas and air is not offered where I’m at so look into it if it’s something you are considering.

I had to get the needle in my back for the stuff that lasted an hour in case I needed a c section it was nice cause I got to sleep but didnt last long and didnt need a c section wore off 3 hours before pushing it was painful because she was facing up and her head was tilted sideways but my ob had me full on laughing and it wasnt nearly as bad as I expected it was also my first time getting stitches to 😅 but after she was out all that pain went away

I wanted to try natural again I had 3 with epidural and one with out not by choice btw I gave birth at our nearest hospital that is not prepared for birth tho they did have a room just in case one happened there and my it was dusty in that room they had staff tryna clean everything down before we went in and the doctor that delivered my baby looked in shock I was crying cause the pain usually they have a nurse helping hold your leg but no one did my husband was only holding one with the other hanging off the side of the bed it was not the best experience I would like to try it again or at least see how far I can get

I have a low pain tolerance and I’ve had two unmedicated births. It’s doable with the right prep and support.

I had an unmedicated birth and I'm planning on doing it again. And no, I wasn't climbing the walls, or screaming my head off, or yelling at my husband. It really wasn't that bad and I was super calm the whole time. Honestly the worst part for me was not knowing how much worse it was going to get because it was my first baby. I gave in and asked for something (later realized I had been in transition at that point) but I was already at a 9 so it was too late. Once I heard that I was happy because I knew I could go without medication if I was that close to my baby coming. The main thing is to remain calm. Fear=pain. Do your research, know what to expect, and you will be much more relaxed with it all. You can totally do it, and it's so rewarding!

I had my first unmedicated on accident and maybe it was my mindset or not mentally preparing but it's something I will never put myself through again! I think if you're really wanting it mentally prepare and be open to change!! It's possible but it's a challenge for sure!

It depends if you’re practicing something like hypnobirthing, where you learn pain management techniques. Obviously you’ll still feel like you’re giving birth haha but the idea is that you train your brain to deal with it better. But i’ve yet to try it out for myself, got another 8 weeks to go!

I know my mom had it with me and my sister because we came to fast and she said it was super painful and didn't want to go through that again with my brother she got the epidural and felt better. But each person is different

I have a pretty high pain tolerance & I couldn’t make it past 3cm dilated. You do what you think is best. But, I’d say don’t completely rule out the possibility of an epidural. ☺️
