Hairstylists help

So this is my current hair color and I absolutely despise it. It just doesn't suit me. Ideally I'd go get it done at a salon to get rid of this color but that's just not something that I can fit into our budget right now. This color was done in a salon with all professional products. I'm wondering what would happen if I just put a light Ash brown over this color? I want to keep my hair as light as possible and some shade of brown. I also don't want to bleacn it if I don't have to.
