First time IUI. Advice?

Carly

Been trying for two and a half years! Last cycle tried clomid with timed intercourse because we couldn’t get in for IUI because of limited slots with COVID. This wasn’t successful. We have great test results all around, just facing unexplained fertility. I’m almost 35 and my husband just turned 38 last week.

This cycle did clomid with a trigger shot (two mature follicles on left side at size 18 according to ultrasound) and did IUI yesterday morning followed by intercourse in the evening (positive ovulation tests the day of the IUI and the day before). Doctors only concern was that my lining was thinner than she would prefer and will likely try letrosol (sp?) next time instead of clomid. Took the day off work after IUI for lots of rest... and glad I did because I had a lot of cramping (probably a combo of the IUI and ovulation).

Hoping for some good news in two weeks (can’t test early due to the trigger shot)! Any advice? Stories about your experience?

Obviously this is an expensive procedure and COVID isn’t helping. I have Kaiser insurance (CA) and they are limiting the number of procedures, so I could be ready to ovulate and not get in for an IUI appointment. Planning on demanding the trigger shot from here on out even though it’s another $100. Looking at around $650 each cycle after insurance. Ugh! Worth it if it works!
