Does being in birth control for many years affect your ability to conceive?

Hi y'all! My husband and I have been ttc for about five months, with no success yet. I stopped taking birth control (seasonique) in July and had taken it for 14 years. Do you think the amount of time I have taken birth control has affected my fertility? I am 27 years old and began taking it at 13. Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks and baby dust to all!

I'm 28 and Took mine for 9 years and stopped the last week of May... Actively trying since July.  My last 2 cycles have been regular so I'm hoping that'll help since my luteal phase before then was only 10-11 days.  My doc told me to give myself at least six months of actively trying before becoming concerned.

My doctor said it may cause it to take longer it took me a little over a year to become pregnant. I got off of depo last year in August and I was on it for six years

In May I went to see my obgyn with the same question. What she told me was that birth control shouldn't affect Ttc but since you have taken it, since it's stops ovulation, it will actually preserve eggs! Which is kind of awesome since of course we have a limited supply. I'm not sure about everyone but she told me to go back to her if it was taking a long time to conceive and we would talk fertility then. So maybe it's time to see your Obgyn.. Hopefully that helped
