iud strings

so I have been unable to find my iud strings and I am sexually active. sometimes I can feel them other times not so much. I haven’t had any pain. I called my doctor and got an ultrasound. my ultrasound showed it was in place. has anyone had the problem of not being able to feel your strings? could they be curled or coiled? I’m never been able to find someone with this problem.
