Does anyone have a copper IUD?

Question

I can't take any type of hormones for birth control, so I came out to the conclusion that this may be the best option for me, but I'd like to hear opinions.
Does it hurt a lot? 
Do you get to a point where you don't feel it? 
Have you gotten pregnant with it?

I got mine in July and it has made my periods suuuuuper heavy. I'm waiting it out for a while to see if it will eventually get better. Fingers crossed!! Not gonna lie it stung when it went in and bled a bit. I had some cramping for the rest of the day. You can't feel it which is really nice. Your supposed to check every month to make sure it's there. Other than my periods I have no complaints with it.

I had it for a couple years. It wasn't great in my body, but it may be perfect for you! If recommend trying. It's cost effective, safe, and effective. I used no other birth control form and did not get pregnant.

The insertion did hurt a lot for me. Worse than they say it hurts for most people. Lots of cramps for a few days. It took about 6 months for me to feel like it "settled in."

I had heavier periods on it and has trouble getting them to stop without taking ibuprofen to lessen my inflammation. That's the reason I had it out eventually. My uterine lining was too thick, but I think that has more to do with my PCOS than with the IUD.

I say go for it!

I just had the copper IUD inserted in September after the birth of my son.
Insertion was not that bad it felt weird but the pain was far from the horror stories I've read online.
I just felt one contraction and it was over.
I jus took ibuprofen before the insertion. 
Since then just some brown discharge which is totally normal.
And at least I'm hormones free and not thinking about contraception.

I got my iud July of last year! 
It was great. It didn't hurt getting it put in. For me my periods were 10 days long the first 6 months and very heavy. Slowly they went to 5 days. I spotted the first two days then I had a SUPER heavy period the next two days (using 2 boxes of tampons each month) then my last day went back to spotting. 
Mine fell out in September tho. 
Don't let that scare you! 
I'm thinking my fiancé hit my cervix during sex and it got knocked out but I'm not sure.

I just had mine removed after 4years. I couldn't use hormones either. 
I loved mine.  I passed out when it was inserted but I have a history of that. 
My husband could feel the strings at certain times in my cycle but it never bothered him.  My biggest problem was the horrible super plus tampon every 30 min on the 2nd period day thing.  Other than that,  wonderful.  
Taking it out was a breeze,  didn't even take 5 min. 
I never had any spotting in-between cycles.  I would use it again.  
Btw I had it removed to get pregnant.  Never had a scare when it was in!

I got mine last September. It only hurt when they put it in. Like 5mins.
My periods last up to 9 days. That includes 4 days of spotting before and after the main period. So only when I wipe and a little on my knickers, I just use a panty liner then.
I have 3 days of heavy and use super tampon.
I've not been pregnant on it.
It's a very good contraceptive. My periods are regular and literally come on almost the same day every time. (Give or take a day). The only down side to it is the length of my periods.
