Losing your virginity

I would really like to lose my virginity with this boy I like but I have a few friends that have lost their virginity some saying it's good some say it hurts and I don't know which one it is. I also have girls telling me you bleed whilst having sex the first time and that scares me a bit. What is it actually like losing your virginity for the first time??
