Minimalist

Hello!

So I’m currently engaged and my fiancé and I are planning to get married next year. Over some time I’ve became more into living a more minimal lifestyle which has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. My fiancé is also on board and we both have been eliminating things that are not useful and only having what we need, it also saves us money.

Fast forwarding, we both are looking forward to a minimalist wedding. Non traditional, not a lot of people, none of the extra things. Just us, immediate family, and become one somewhere in nature. Then after we wanted to stay somewhere and enjoy our time together in a cabin out in the woods and make s’mores lol. Just simple, loving intimate time together, we both love nature btw.

However my mom does not seem happy about this minimal wedding. She wanted the big wedding, and all of this extra stuff with a huge reception etc. Shes not forcing anything but when this comes up she just looks lost. She even told me if we eloped she would be extremely upset.

I’ve tried explaining to my mother that it’s not her wedding, it’s ours but of course I said it with kindness. Either way instead of eloping, we decided to go with the minimal simple wedding that fits us and our pockets and invite her, with my father and his parents. Maybe a few relatives but that’s it.

Has anyone had a simple wedding or eloped?! We’re your parents or in laws upset or supportive? I’d love to hear your story 🥰
