Has anyone else’s dog swallowed something they shouldn’t have?

I only ask because my pup has swallowed big portions of string from a rope toy that have passed from her system but she still wasn’t her usual self so we took her to the vet. She was scheduled for surgery, they said her scan didn’t look normal. Before doing surgery (they had been trying to up her fluids) they decided to do another rectal exam and actually pulled out a decent sized toy. 
She is doing better now and we can pick her up in the morning. 
I am only writing this post because my boyfriend has been very verbally abusive and hurtful with all this going on. Saying the meanest things and kept saying this incident “didn’t happen on his watch”. Pretty much blaming me 100%. 
I just need to know that I am not a terrible dog mom. 
I don’t even know when this event happened. I found the toy and I believe I did buy it but I can’t imagine leaving her alone for so long to eat a shi* tone of string and a squeaker. 🙁😭

My 3 dogs eat socks and all kinda things. Nothin like taking your dog for a poop and Elsa's face is staring at you from the heaping pile 😂🤣 dogs will be dogs.

One of my dogs used to steal chocolate kisses open them and eat the chocolate. That exact same dog stole  an entire basket of different chocolate around Christmas time that we had made from one of our relatives. she lived to be 15 years old.could not leave chocolate around her or anything else because she would steal it and eat it.
Also he's being very verbally abusive that's a red flag for your future. Because the fact is he's going to use this against you for the rest of your time you're with him.. so you may want to sit him down  tell him he either knocks it off and accepts the fact that it does happen or you may have to exit the relationship.

The first day I had my puppy my other dog got into the trash’s me pulled out a rotisserie chicken. Dogs can’t eat cooked chicken bones because they splinter so I had to take them both to the vet but because I caught it so early they just made them through up a ton and they were fine. Moral of the story is dogs get into shit if you look away for 5 seconds. Not your fault just try to keep a better eye on it. Your boyfriend sounds like an ass.

Our family dog ate an open safety pin when she was a puppy. I saw her eat it and tried to grab it out of her mouth but wasn’t able to get it before she swallowed it. It cost $1000 for it be surgically removed. My personal dog chewed up and ate a chuck-it stick you use to throw tennis balls. She pooped lime green plastic pieces for like 3 days. 🙈 No matter how careful you are, you can’t watch them 24/7.

My dog ate a whole bag of prunes and nothing happened. I expected major bloating or explosive diarrhea but literally nothing! My parent’s have a lab and she loves chocolate. She’s eaten two trays of Oreo’s in one night on a vacation, snickers, a bag of raw frozen chicken, cat litter/contents, and all the trash her little heart could handle. She is quite the dumpster 😂 she is always fine. She even got into her bag of dog food and ate more than she should have possibly ingested and was super thirsty afterwards, but once again, fine.

My dogs are constantly eating things they aren’t supposed to, and then barfing it up or pooping it out. It’s so common. It’s a damn miracle that none of mine have had to have anything surgically removed.
The boyfriend sounds like trash. Who does that? Who blames someone with that “didn’t happen on my watch” BS? Trash does, that’s who.

My childhood dog ate an entire blanket. She thankfully didn’t need surgery, but she spent the night at the vet and never had a blanket in her crate again.

It’s soooo easily done! It’s like a toddler, unless you have eyes in the back of your head there’s no way you can watch them 24/7. I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it!! My partner would probably be the same, but if it was the other way around it wouldn’t be his fault!!
