Why do people think they can’t get pregnant when they’re breastfeeding? I don’t really understand this concept. It’s like “oh it was an accident, we weren’t using protection but I was breastfeeding” ....? It doesn’t make sense to me. Am I uninformed on something?

Breastfeeding can be used as a birth control method and is 98% effective but there is a very specific way to do it. It’s called the LAM method, as far as I know it is effective up to 6 months pp and you have to be exclusively breastfeeding on demand, you can’t pump either. Maybe people kind of know about it but don’t realize the limitations.

I’m not sure honestly, maybe because some women don’t get their period until they stop breastfeeding? I’m not sure, I got my period right away but my one friend was breastfeeding for a year and didn’t get her period till after.

I breastfed my 3rd until she was 2 years old and my husband and I were trying for another one but kept having chemicals or miscarriages and finally a doctor told me, it was from breastfeeding. I didnt believe it until my daughter stopped breastfeeding and bam, I was pregnant that next month. 😳 I've never gotten pregnant while breastfeeding but I would never advise anyone to use that method. It of course doesnt work that way with many women. Lol.
