How did you know when you were completely over someone?

I dated my first love for about 3 years & its been 2 years since we broke up but anyone new that i "date", there's absolutely no spark or connection like i had with my ex. I put my whole heart into that relationship and i feel like nothing could ever compare because, he was my first love.

You just haven't met the right person yet. It doesn't necessarily mean your not over it. However, there's no "timeline" from moving on from a relationship or from any loss, no matter what society says. Idk I feel like you'll know when someone is right for you again.

My high school sweetheart had me messed up for years after our break up. We were on and off for a long time after that. I regret to say that I was the girl who’d get drunk and cry over his stupid ass. Knew I was finally over him when he got divorced and came crawling back again as usual... I was like “nah, not this time.” I had just started dating my current boyfriend and I just had a really good feeling about him from the start... so I guess I finally got over my ex when I met my Mr. Right. Keep your head up, it’ll happen!

When you no longer miss them, you no longer think about them, can you feel ready to MoveOn because usually when you were over them. As long as she took the time to heal from the last relationship so that you don’t sabotage future relationships by blaming the new guy for what the old guy did or from developing trust issues or insecurities or doubts or thinking the new guy is going to do whatever the old guy did, and I think the other reason that you were stuck on your ask, is because in life we celebrate one day while we cry for a week.￼ We remember the good times over the bad times, it’s the same thing that we do when you have pregnancy and children, you forget how miserable you were during pregnancy, the nausea, and the actual birth process in the afterbirth and healing in the mood swings the constipation etc. otherwise if people remembered everything that was horrible about pregnancy, they would never have anymore children. And I think that’s why you were still stuck on your ex. I was with my cheating ex for five years, I had two miscarriages and was emotionally attached because of that. He slept with half of our state, and used me to no end for everything under the sun. That ended in December 2017, I took all of 2018 to heal, lose weight, and work on myself. By 2019 I was ready to start dating again, I wasn’t over my ex, but I was ready to MoveOn. I dated two guys are a waste of my time, and by October 2019 I met a decent guy, by February 2020, I was finally over my ex, I stop missing him anytime I would have a silent moment it used to go through my mind that I missed him constantly, I finally deleted all the pictures and text messages and everything else. And I was finally done with him, I no longer missed him and that’s how I knew I was truly over him. Everyone is different and everyone heals in their own time. I wouldn’t compare your old relationship to your new, because obviously it wasn’t amazing because you would still be with him if it was amazing all the time, I’m sure towards the end they were more sad days than happy days. And that’s what you need to think about and associate with him, not all the good things, you can’t compare your ex to new people because that’s not fair to the new person, you’re already going into it thinking it’s going to fail even before it starts, so you’re sabotaging it in reality. You may not be truly over your ex and that’s why you keep sabotaging things. For me personally it usually takes me replacing the last one for me to actually move on I don’t know if that’s gonna be the same for you or not, but that’s usually how it is for me. I wish you luck.
