Washing routines?

Currently stripping my cloth diapers because they STINK and leak and it's awful! I need to see your washing routines. What detergent do you use, any things you add to the wash, how often you wash, and how you store dirty diapers? I really want cloth diapers to work for us, but I'm frustrated and worried that the laundering cost will exceed what I would be spending on disposable at this point. I've been using All free and clear powder in addition to borax and washing soda because we have hard water with iron. I know my ratios haven't been right but I'm trying to make this affordable for us. Tips please!
