Is Indra an “ethnic” name?

Question

So we have decided on the name Indra for our baby girl. But we have gotten a lot of backlash from family because they said it sounds “ethnic.” We are white, and our family is concerned that we are culturally appropriating another ethnicity which we do not identify with. So of course, I am now doubting everything. 
What do you all think? I wouldn’t want to name my child something that would offend someone, but we love the name so much. Is Indra bad for a white person to name their child? 
Please note - I am trying to be sensitive in this topic, I know racial tensions are at an all-time high right now and I really just want to make sure I’m not offending anyone in real life or here.

You can name your child whatever you like, “ethnic” sounding or not...to hell with what anyone else thinks. Nobody owns the rights to any name.

It does seem appropriative to me, but I’m not a member of that culture so I am not an authority. I’d delay deciding, and in the meantime try finding another name you love just as much, and see what happens. 
White people on this forum tend not to “believe” in appropriation so I don’t know that you’ll be getting much diversity in responses with this question. 
Indra also seems very masculine to me. Like naming a girl Zeus.

You could always look up to see the origin/meaning of the name and see what it says. It doesn’t necessarily sound “ethnic” but it does sound like a name that has a different origin than your typical “white” names

It’s a boy’s name that’s Hindu/Sanskrit. Indian god of rain and sky. 
It certainly doesn’t sound like a “white girl” name to me and doesn’t have an origin that would lend itself to that, but I’m sure plenty of people wouldn’t bat an eye.

This would be a better question to ask people of color. As you can see most of the people who have commented are white and don’t see the issue and usually a name that has a cultural significance which is a problem. I don’t identify with the culture this name comes from but to me it does seem like it would be wrong to give the name

Indra Gandhi was the first and only woman prime minister of India. I am of Indian origin and I see absolutely no problem with you naming your baby Indra. Honestly I see it as a sign of respect you choose that name.

I believe it’s origin is I India and it’s primarily used for boys. I think it means drops of rain or something similar, if that helps at all 🤷‍♀️
