First pcs move

So I recently just got married and my husband received his orders and they are moving him to California, he hasn’t had the chance to start on the paper work because as soon as he got back from leave they sent him into the wire so he kinda just has to wait til he gets out. But he leaves in December and his plan is to drive down back home have the military pack all of our stuff and drive to California together but I’m so lost on everything, we want on base housing but I have not a single clue of what I’m suppose to do or help him with so if anyone could give me tips that’d be great!
