How did your first appt go leading to now?

I just set up my first appointment with a fertility clinic I’m so tired of getting af every month it’s been over a year actively trying and I’ve never been pregnant ..  not to mention before that I used the pull out method for years and still never fell pregnant I really hope they can fix me 🥺 for those who tried for over a year b4 becoming pregnant how did it happen for you ? If u had to get medically assisted what were the steps?

You gonna start with a couple months of a whole bunch of testing.   Then your doctor will be able to come up with a game plan to move forward.    Going to a specialist was the best move I made.  Finally felt like I was taking control

IVF gave us our 3 month old and will *hopefully* give him a sibling.
Appointment last May > blood work, ultrasound, 2-3 semen analyses > male factor diagnosis > two failed IUIs > IVF > first round success last Oct/Nov > son born 7/26

We had already had a lot of testing done prior to our RE consult. We had to do a couple more tests but they let us start treatment right away. It took me 4 months to figure out a combo of meds that makes me ovulate (prior to that I had done like 4 rounds with my ob—all anovulatory). First cycle I ovulated, I conceived. It ended in an early mc at 5 weeks. Second cycle, bfn. I’m in my tww of my third cycle! 🤞🏻

I’ve told a few people but I set up my specialist appt in January so my deductible reset and as soon as I got my deductible in March everything was covered at 90%-but all ins is different.  It’s a frustrating and expensive experience but they’ll start with history and a bunch of bloodwork, some in different days of your cycle, your SO should get a semen analysis at the begging as well.  Once all that comes back they’ll probably have you do an HSG where they inject dye into your tubes to make sure there is no blockage and an US to look at your ovaries/follicle count.  Sometimes they find an answer, sometimes everything comes back perfect which is what happened with me and they don’t have an answer for you.  We went the IUI route since insurance wouldn’t pay towards IVF without a certain number of tries and were successful on our 3rd!  It’s a crappy thing to go through so make sure you have at least a few people as a support system.  Having trouble is pretty common but a lot of people just don’t talk about it so you might be surprised by who you know who dharea their experiences with you.  Good luck!!!
