How would you breakup with someone you care about?

I care about him but I don’t think he’s the one for me. It hurts to let go but I need to do it for myself. I just don’t know how to go about it.

Answer

I had to do this with my first serious boyfriend. He was a good guy and we were good together but I needed great.
He also needed time to keep growing and he did. He did quite well for himself and I'm so happy that I could inspire that but knowing where he wants his life to go and mine are different directions.
It hurt to breakup but I couldn't stay longer, make plans, move in together, etc. I just found some time and we had a serious talk about our future. We also talked months after breaking up and he told me that with time he underttood why better.
