Did your Aug. get their flu shot this year?

We skipped it. Have always gotten her one in the past but we switched health care networks and have not been to a doctors office since her 3rd year checkup (they didn’t have it in yet.) 
Then, my sister got this year’s flu shot and couldn’t move her arm for over two weeks- then had to go get steroid shots. So now... I’m not rushing my 3 yo over to get one... plus we are not really planning to go anywhere really?

We all got it. And it was amazing because our doctors office had a set up for drive by flu shots 😆.
So we legit didn't even have to do the whole doctor office thing. We just rolled up and got our shots without getting out of the car. 10 out of 10 would recommend them keeping this set up 😆

After getting the flu last year I will never not get the flu shot.  We had ours, my husband didn't. He was sick for 2 wks in and out of the er. We were sick max 3 days and not nearly as bad.  We don't go anywhere besides work/grocery shopping but no way I'm going to risk getting anything, let alone something that has a vaccine.  I believed it helped us.  We suffered, but no where near the extent of my husband!
Your sisters reaction most likely doesn't happen very often.  Think its only 1 or 2% get a fever as a reaction.
If nobody leaves the house at all, you're good. If not, there's going to be a risk of getting sick. I prefer to err on the side of caution.

We skip the flu shot as a family. I am most certainly NOT an anti-vax. But I am from a tiny farm town and it usually doesn’t float around here. Plus the vaccine is only good for the flu that they predict is going around.

Also, your sister’s reaction is most likely due to the shot being given too high on the arm. Whoever gave her the shot probably did a poor job or was new to giving vaccines. It would most likely never happen again if given properly.

Yep! The doctor didn’t have it, so we made an appointment at a CVS minute clinic. They had us stay in the car until they were ready and then called us on our phone to come in. The whole process took less than 10 minutes and the NP was great with my son. Then we grabbed a Kit Kat (his current favorite treat) on the way out as a reward.

Yep, the whole family including our younger kid (almost 1 yr old) got flu shots in September. Your sister's reaction is definitely rare - does she normally get the flu shot without reaction?
