My Sister in law said she should date a black man because his ancestors picked cotton and she’ll probably get a good deal on tampons. Did I take it to far

We’re gathered this morning having coffee and talking and she’s been very open about her irregular cycles. I get it, you use a lot of tampons and they can be expensive. So she randomly made comment that she should date an African American guy as his ancestors probably picked cotton and he will be able to pick up on making tampons and it’ll save her money. So I said hold up, jokes like that aren’t chill at all and most black or poc would rather you don’t call them African American, as majority of them aren’t African and were born and raised in the US. So her mom spoke up and told me I was out of line and it was just a harmless convo. Was I in the wrong for speaking up cause if something wasn’t said, she dead ass probably would say worst going forward
