Is this normal?

My 3 week old daughter just spit up what seems like all the formula I just gave her and my husband and I spent 10 minutes suctioning super thick mucousy clear spit out of her mouth. Is this normal?? Scared the living daylights out of me. Pic of my baby girl for attention

Hey, hey. I’m a NICU nurse and babies puke ALL the time for a multitude of reasons. If it isn’t a recurrent event for her and she eats normally with her next few feedings, I wouldn’t worry so much. When bottle feeding infants, we sometimes burp every 5 minutes or so. Some babies need that air let off of their bellies. Also, try to keep her upright for at least 15 minutes after feeding, to reduce the likelihood of emesis.   Hope that helps you and your gorgeous little lady.

She may have just a bit of acid reflex or too much mucus that got stuck in her throat. My baby girl did the same yesterday but it was so clogged she chocked and wasn’t breathing and turning red. I would mention it to the doctor!

You shouldn't be suctioning out of her mouth. Spitting up is normal and doesn't bother baby.
