Too much tv bad for babies?

What are your thoughts in letting your baby watch tv? My baby loves cocomelon and other kids show on tv but a co worker told me that too much screen time is bad for his eye sights and that I shouldn’t let him watch too much tv bc he might get addicted .

Pediatricians recommend no screen time before 2 years. It’s not good for their brain development.

A little is fine ..it's just that having their eyes fixed on the screen for a prolonged period of time leads to eye strain which isn't good

For us personally our child got zero screen time (tv/computer/phone/tablet/ect) for her 1st 17ish months..she then hit an incredibly clingy phase and climbed me like a monkey all day so I would put on pbs kids in certain shows I was ok with for 10-20 min so I could do things like cook her breakfast without her screeching at the top of her lungs the whole time then being too upset to eat. I am very picky what she can watch and pretty much Daniel Tiger and 2 or 3 others are always then go to with a few others I am ok with. And then the ones I avoid like the damn plague (looking at you Pinkalicious). She is 21 months now and still gets no other screen time besides mom has to do something and my toddler is being unreasonable time.

We let our 16month old watch sing alongs kindergarden videos maybe 30min. a day sometimes less. She has learned new words, her favourite lovey, dances a long and loves to watch other kids on screen. At first I was against screen time but it has helped so I'm ok with it.

We watched a lot of tv when our son was newborn but as soon as he started engaging with the tv we stopped till he was closer to 15months. Now we limit it to 1 hr a day or one movie, if we do watch tv. TV is used sparingly and only when we need the break not if he asks (which is allll the time). 
TV has increased some now that I’m pregnant and moving around makes me want want to throw up most of the time.

Cocomelon, Little Baby Bum, and Pink Fong in this house 😅 my 15 month loves music so I play it on the TV often every day mostly throughout the day. He also plays contentedly by himself and with his sister/outside/with us so I think it’s a decent balance. He also loves to be read to, will pick out books 🤷🏼‍♀️
