Too many credit cards??

How many credit cards do you think is too many for someone to have? What’s your limit? I have 4 credit cards, but they all have a small limit. 2 have a $300 limit, and the other 2 have a $500 limit. My $500 ones are for emergencies only. All of my cards are in good standing. I always pay on time. I was thinking about getting another one. I want a Macy’s card, but I wonder if that would be too much because that would make it 5 credit cards total.

I know everyone’s finances is their business, but I just want your opinions on credit cards and how many do you think is too many.
