Public housing/Section 8
I know not many people would want to admit to this publicly, I don’t either, but I really need advice.
I’m 20 and pregnant. I was looking to move out but I think public housing might honestly be the only thing I can somewhat afford since they’d accommodate my rent according to the money I make. I work full time currently as a cashier making $15.25.
Does anyone here live in public housing? What size apartment and how much do you pay? I’d be completely content with even a studio. I do have a boyfriend who’s 22 and he’d help me out financially, like paying half of the rent, but he’s not going to move in (because of other personal reasons that I don’t want to talk about), which is fine honestly.
- I should’ve mentioned that I currently live in public housing but our housing community will soon be completely renovated and turned into section 8 next year. They said they would give families bigger apartments if they have an overcrowding issue which we will qualify for since I’m adding a new person to the household. I just hope that they’ll give me an apartment by myself rather than moving us all into a bigger one.
