Is it rude to tell friends/family not to feed my child sugary/chocolate snacks?

I’ve noticed people feeding my toddler where they assume it’s ok? I tell them politely what I feel is best to feed and not feed my child but they carry on?! I don’t like it when my toddler eats food high in sugar anyway, especially before bedtime but how can I explain to them not to feed without my permission? As a parent I would never do this and will respect their decision 😕

My MIL insisted on giving my son ice cream, but sugar hurts his tummy. She put a big scoop in front of him after I told her not to, so I packed up my son and left. She hasn't tried it since 🤷‍♀️

Since you’ve tried to be polite about it and they still disrespect you, I would tell them they either follow your rules or they won’t be visiting until they can

If you were polite and said no and they did it again, I would ask them to leave if they were at my house. If I was visiting theirs I would leave and tell them they are not welcome around my child if they can’t respect my rules

As a mama that doesn’t allow sugar (besides fruit) or juice in our household, I’ve made my stance pretty clear to my family and friends. If I have to be the bad guy, I will. Whether that’s being blunt or literally grabbing things out of my child’s hand that I don’t approve of. 
That being said, nearly everyone in my life has learned to ask me first before handing my kids something. Of course I allow occasional treats, but I appreciate being asked first. I am a little more laid back on the occasional cookie or something, but juice is a hard no for me. My kids are fantastic about drinking their water, I don’t want them to even know there are other options yet lol. They’re only 1 and (almost) 3.

It’s not rude. If you tell them nicely and they don’t listen be firm and tell them to stop. I‘be taken things away and thrown them in the garbage before when people don’t listen 🤷🏻‍♀️

It just be an older generation thing cause I’d never give another kid food without asking their parent. That being said I was at a birthday party once and a parent of another kids have one of the kids food and he ended up in the hospital and that’s really shaped how I feel about things.

I’m so blunt about it but that’s who I am and everyone knows it. So I will tell them not to and if they do I’m just like great now she’s gonna be up all night and I have to be up at 5 am for work thanks a lot. Or I say in front of them, if you act wild you’re gonna get a pow pow because you are that candy. Then they won’t give her any lol. And no I don’t give her spankings because of that but I’m trying to make a point.
