Back at work? How’s it going?

Question

Started back to work last week, our office is still closed due to Covid so I am still working from home (since March). Work has been a slow ramp up, which is good because it is almost impossible to work right now. We have a 2 year old, and a 3 month old. I absolutely love my family, I am so blessed, I truly love being a mom. However, it is very difficult to get any work done right now. Is anyone else struggling with going back to work?

I’m a nurse in an ICU covid. Definitely the worst time to be a nurse and have a newborn 😂. I’ve only been back 3 shifts but it’s mentally and physically exhausting. I have a toddler as well. The biggest blessing though is my mom is watching my newborn overnight for one of my shifts a week so I can sleep in with my toddler then go pick the baby up. I work nightshift and by the time I make it home and shower and get in bed it’s 5 am. My toddler wakes up around 9:30-10:30 so at least thanks to my mom I can get 4.5-5 hours of sleep 😬😬.

I’m mostly struggling because I’m a nurse and covid is crazy in my shit hole state of South Dakota so it wasn’t an ideal time to go back to work but I had to. I’m exhausted. My mother in law in watching our son and to be honest that is mentally exhausting too as she hasn’t been around babies in 20 plus years so she has no idea what she is doing and I’m regretting not signing him up for daycare.

I went back at the beginning of November and leaving her isn’t too bad since my mom and MIL watch her at our house. However, I teach and we are in person. Getting back into the swing of things and dealing with covid has been a struggle. Our students are being quarantined left and right. Thank goodness for our mask mandate otherwise our system probably wouldn’t make them wear them. Flu season will be the devil!

I just went back last week. I work in the admin office (with the Superintendent) of our local public school system. We’re still in person and it’s freaking crazy right now. I have lots of COVID related anxiety, especially with how many students and staff are under quarantine BUT I’m blessed that my coworkers are awesome and are going above and beyond to make sure I’m comfortable. Our Bub is medically complex (including acute respiratory failure) but thankfully is stable and thriving, so their extra consideration has been amazing  I love my job and am so glad to be back but I’ll be honest, I’m a little excited that we will likely get shut down and forced to virtual soon (even though it is not what’s best for kids). I will still work at the office due to the nature of my position, but that means no extra staff and parents filtering through my office daily.

I’ve been back for a month now, I manage a salon and it’s been extremely stressful with the amount of staff off due to covid. Ive been working extra hours, then coming home to my newborn, 1 year old and my now homeschooled 7 year old. 
I just told my husband last night I’m 5 minute away from a mental breakdown 🙃 He told me to just make it until Saturday and I’ll get the whole day to myself 🙏

I work in healthcare so it is stressful with COVID and everything. I’m scared I could bring COVID or the flu home to our baby. But I switched my schedule around to benefit the family and I’m working overnights now so we don’t have to enroll her into daycare and I only work 30 hours a week. It’s tough because I’m exhausted during the day and I have to take care of my daughter all day after working a 10 hr over night but it means we don’t have to pay for childcare so I just suck it up lol
