Am I crazy for feeling like this?

So yesterday I had to leave home for 2 hours and LO (6 weeks old) stayed home with his dad. When I got home, he said my MIL told him how proud she was that he kept our son while I was gone. Am I crazy for feeling a little miffed because no one ever tells me they’re proud of me when I get up all through the night to feed him or settle him?

Apparently it is expected of you and not dad. Pretty lame. So... at least I am proud of you. It is a lot of work!!! A lot of sleep deprivation and a lit of anxiety. I hope you take some time to yourself (massage) and rely on the hubby more. You deserve a break because you work hard, mama!

It will happen even as the kids grow up to. My husband has two boys (17 and 20) who live in the U.K. with their mom and my husband lives in and is from Australia. It’s a very long story but essentially the boys were moved to the U.K. on the pretence they were “just visiting family”. Anyway, he has always gone to visit twice a year for a total of 8 weeks a year. He HATES when people praise him for it. He’s like “they are my kids, of course I come see them”. The assumption that all dads are uninvolved and useless is pretty insulting honestly. Your husband should be annoyed by his mother’s comment because she clearly doesn’t think of him as a capable parent 🤷🏼‍♀️

Some people’s families just weren’t raised to have the dads participate in caring for the kids. My friend has this issue with her MIL all the time 🤮 I honestly would be annoyed too. My husband does so much for my kids and I’m so thankful!

Yes I get so annoyed Bc of my PPD my husband helps ALOT and although my in laws or mom don’t say it I know they think he’s so amazing for doing a lot but why is it that the moms are expected to do so much and then when dads do it it’s praiseworthy 😒

Yup. And its crazy how much it will happen. The fact that my husband does so much for both baby and 2 year d baffles some people.

I get where your coming from, but it could also be a genuine compliment because your MIL may not have had an SO that helped like that and she is proud of her son for being a good father.
